SZ-Xiamen rail

ABOUT 98 percent of the bridges and 99 percent of the tunnels on the Xiashen (Xiamen-Shenzhen) High-speed Railway have been finished, a manager with the project contractor said Tuesday. The 502-kilometer rail line will have a designed speed of 250 kilometers per hour.

‘Zombie cars’

AN increasing number of vehicles have been abandoned by their owners at roadsides and in car parks, leading to complaints from residents in many communities and housing estates.

The vehicles include scrap cars and vehicles that are damaged beyond repair.

Traffic police said residents can report the “zombie cars” to them and authorities will either contact the owners or tow the cars away. Car owners will be fined for abandoning cars.
