MISSION Hills Group announced Thursday that it’s investing 5 billion yuan (US$793 million) to build a huge Longhua New Zone development that’s already touted as the only mega-center for leisure, entertainment and business in northern Shenzhen.
The development is named HOPSCA, an acronym for “Hotel, Offices, Parks, Shopping, Conventions and Apartments.” With a construction area of 500,000 square meters, the project, also called Mission Hills Centreville, is the largest construction project since the establishment of Longhua New Zone at the end of last year.
The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2013 and includes a 700-bedroom hotel, two office buildings, an international school, parks, an MH Mall shopping center, luxurious exhibition halls and high-end apartment buildings of more than 1,000 homes.
More than 200 brand-name businesses in leisure, entertainment, food and sports will open shops and stores in the MH Mall, a landmark building cluster for Longhua New Zone.
The mall will include OSGH Cinemas, with seven screens and 1,000 seats; a Brunswick bowling club; a 10,000-square-meter KTV club; and an 800-square-meter skating rink.
“Mission Hills has been advocating healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyles since its establishment 20 years ago and the HOPSCA project will provide a fresh leisure experience for residents in the area,” Dr. Ken Chu, chairman of Mission Hills, said at the launch ceremony.
Mission Hills also is the host and promoter of several major golf tournaments, including the Omega Mission Hills World Cup and the Mission Hills Star Trophy.
