SHENZHEN’S Huaqiangbei, the center for electronic products retailers, is expected to be named “China’s No.1 electronics street” this month for its superiority in scale.
China Electronics Chamber of Commerce had a two-day inspection of the Huaqiangbei electronics market earlier this month and experts agreed that Huaqiangbei outdoes other Chinese markets selling electronic products in the scale of operations, management, brand recognition, product variety and quality as well as floor area, yesterday’s Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.
Huaqiangbei is expected to be officially accredited in mid-September and will become the first sub-venue of the China Hi-Tech Fair, which is scheduled to open Oct. 12.
Located in the heart of downtown Shenzhen, Huaqiangbei is famous for the cluster of large computer centers. It is one of the busiest markets for electronics in the world and the latest electronic products can usually be found in Huaqiangbei.
With annual sales of more than 20 billion yuan (US$2.92 billion), Huaqiangbei has become the largest electronics market in China in terms of sales, operation area and product variety. (Liu Minxia)
