SIS donations

TEACHERS, students and students?parents of Shekou International School (SIS) raised more than 40,000 yuan (US$5,714) as of yesterday for people in the quake-hit Sichuan Province. Robert S. Dunseth, the director of SIS, said students feel sad for the victims in the quake and were donating money voluntarily. The donation drive will continue till Friday.

Adopt an orphan

SHENZHEN Charity Association and the Daily Sunshine had urged city families to adopt children orphaned by the Sichuan earthquake, in order to make them feel like they belong to families, the Daily Sunshine reported yesterday.

Paid leave

SHENZHEN Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau have called for Shenzhen companies to give special care to migrant workers from towns affected by the Sichuan earthquake. Those who quit their jobs to go home should receive their full wages, and those who plan to visit home should be give paid leave. Workers unable to get in touch with their families in the quake-hit areas should seek help from the Shenzhen Municipal Labor and Social Security Bureau or office of Sichuan Provincial Government in Shenzhen, the Daily Sunshine reported yesterday.
