    告别免费塑料袋，你准备好了吗? 周一, 深圳首届大学生环保购物袋设计比赛在市民中心落下帷幕。全市700多名在校大学生精心设计了近500个环保购物袋, 将时尚、多变的元素融入到设计中。

    Shenzhen sophomore Yin Shubing on Monday won the city’s first cloth bag design competition for university students.

    A bag designed by Yin, a student of the College of Design under Shenzhen University, was chosen as the best one among more than 500 entries sent to the competition, which was held at the Citizens’ Center.

    “My bag is like a Transformer toy, with multiple functions and changing colors,” said Yin. “It took me two days to transform an ordinary bag into a combination of handbag, kitbag and purse.”

    The competition, which was co-organized by the city’s environmental protection bureau and development and reform bureau, attracted entries from 700 university students.

    Retailers who offer customers plastic bags free of charge will be fined up to 50,000 yuan (US$6,578.95) once a regulation on environmental protection is implemented in Shenzhen starting June 1.

    Department store or shopping mall operators will also be required to sell environmentally friendly shopping bags or baskets which can be used a number of times.(SD News)
