Shenzheners who haven’t had the chance to visit the Lausanne-based Olympic Museum can find information about the Olympic Games at an exhibition scheduled to be held next week in the city.
Organized by the International Olympic Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee, and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad, the exhibition, entitled “Olympic Treasure Exhibition China Tour,” will feature 731 items from the Swiss museum’s collection, including Olympic medals, torches, mascots, art products, films and photographs, as well as souvenirs.
Visitors will be invited to take part in a series of activities at the exhibition, including getting the chance to enter a lucky draw by answering Olympic-themed questions.
The exhibition began touring China on Aug. 8, 2007, exactly one year before the start of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. After its China debut in Beijing, it made stops at more than a dozen Chinese cities, including Qingdao, Nanjing, Wuhan, Fuzhou, Hong Kong and Macao.
The Guangzhou exhibition will be held from April 30 to May 7 at Tian-hecang in Tianhe District, followed by exhibitions in Dongguan and Foshan.
Founded in 1993, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, houses permanent and temporary exhibits relating to sport and the Olympic movement. It is the second most-visited museum in Switzerland.
