At 8 p.m. March 29, cities across the world will turn off their lights for just one hour — Earth Hour — to show that it’s possible to take action on global warming. Switching off is a simple action that can make a difference and it sends a powerful message that the people of the world care about the future of the planet.
You can be part of the worldwide campaign by joining Shenzhen’s first event to celebrate Earth Hour. Earth Hour Shenzhen will be held Saturday night at Lotus Hill Park starting from 6 p.m. The event will feature food, games, music by local troubadour Dave Seymour, and discussions led by city environmentalists Harry Walker (winner of a Shenzhen government award in 2005) and Al from Freecycle Shenzhen.
If you would like to participate, bring food to share and a groundsheet and join the event on the meadow located just left after you enter the park. And remember, before you leave home, turn off lights and appliances and take all appliances off standby.
