MORE than 50 members of Shenzhen's Indian community celebrated Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, at the Xichong beach in eastern Shenzhen on Saturday.

Despite the gloomy weather that day, the revelers celebrated Holi by rubbing and throwing colored powder and water at each other. Some used water guns to spray colored water, while others were thrown into a tub of colored water.

Holi is mainly observed in North India and Nepal. To celebrate the festival, people spend the day throwing colored powder and water at each other. A special drink called thandai is drunk on that day. In the evening, people invite each other to their houses for feasts.
