BAGHDAD, Iraq: A roadside bomb killed four Shiite pilgrims yesterday in the outskirts of Baghdad, while the death toll from a suicide bombing targeting pilgrims resting in a tent the day before rose to 56, authorities said.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: A suicide bomber hit a car carrying the army's surgeon general along a busy road in Rawalpindi yesterday, killing him along with at least seven other people, the army said.

GAZA CITY: Palestinian schoolchildren were forming a human chain the length of the Gaza Strip yesterday to protest a crushing Israeli blockade, with Israeli forces on alert for any rush on the border.
