AN 8-year-old British boy has found a set of dinosaur footprints on a Yorkshire beach.
Rhys Nichols was walking along the sands near his home in Scarborough with his father Richard Nichols when he spotted the perfectly preserved 23-cm prints on a rock. They could date back 160 million years.
He realized they could be from a dinosaur and took a photograph. Experts believe they could be the mark of a plant-eating iguanodon creature which roamed the area during the Jurassic era.
Richard Nichols, 55, said: 揥e were walking along when Rhys suddenly shouted 慦ow dad, look what I抳e found.?Rhys loves dinosaurs, so for him to find something like that was wonderful. I couldn抰 get him away from them.? Will Watts, an archaeologist from the Scarborough Museums Trust, said: 揟his is a great find as dinosaur prints are not normally that clear. We think they are probably from a plant-eating dinosaur from the Middle Jurassic period, which would make the prints about 160 million years old.? 揕ooking at the size of the prints, the dinosaur was probably the same size as Rhys. They did the right thing by taking a picture and not touching them. You should not try to collect the prints,?Watts said.
