Bus crash kills 7

SEVEN people died and 10 others were injured after a bus crashed in Central China’s Hubei Province, sources with the local work safety administration said yesterday.

The accident occurred at around 6:40 a.m. yesterday on the highway linking the provincial capital Wuhan and Shiyan, when a bus, registered in Hubei, hit the road divider and overturned.

Couple killed

A CHINESE couple were found dead Saturday in the bar they ran in South Africa, the Chinese Embassy in that country said Sunday.

Lin Wenjie and his wife, Yan Xiaolan, who was pregnant for three months, were shot dead by robbers in their bar in a town 130 km from Bloemfontein, capital of the Free State Province of South Africa, the embassy confirmed. South African police caught two suspects and one of them admitted to the crime.

Water shortage

ABOUT 250,000 people in Hebei Province face a drinking water shortage as a severe winter drought lingers, authorities said yesterday.

The number could double next month, the provincial water conservation department said.
