Sales of train tickets halted

GUANGDONG Railway Group will suspend train ticket sales before the Spring Festival with a large number of passenger trains either being delayed or canceled across Guangdong Province.

All railway stations in Guangdong would stop selling tickets from Sunday to Feb. 6, the Sznews.com Web site reported yesterday.

The railway authority has urged the public to be rational when it comes to choosing the means of transport and the time to travel as the railway system “will not resume normal operations for the next three to five days.”

Passengers who have bought tickets for trains departing between Friday and Feb. 6 can return their tickets before Feb. 6 for a full refund with no fees charged.

Passengers who want to continue their journey will still be able to use the tickets bought between Friday and Feb. 6, pending arrangements with railway stations.

All ticket sales counters at Guangzhou Railway Station have already been turned into ticket refund counters.

For ticket policies, the railway authority has a hotline to take public calls: 020-61325222. (Feng Yu)
