SZ’s first charity list unveiled

WITH a donation of 195.98 million yuan (US$25.79 million), Taiwanese firm Foxconn Technology Group topped the list of donors on the 2007 Shenzhen Charity Roll, which was announced yesterday.

Shenzhen Neptunus Bioengineering Co. Ltd. ranked first in terms of goods donated and Li Xianyi, chairman of Shenzhen Xinyi Property Development Co. Ltd., topped the individual charity list with 3.6 million yuan in donations.

A total of 514 monetary donors, including companies and individuals, found their names on the roll, involving a total of 382.28 million yuan while 36 companies were listed for donating goods with a total value of more than 75.29 million yuan.

The release of the list is reported to be part of charity activities in Shenzhen. In the coming months, a charity blue book will be published.

Initiated by the Shenzhen NGO administration bureau, 15 nongovernment organizations in the city compiled the charity roll. It was the first of its kind in Shenzhen, recording donations by institutions and individuals in 2006.

Candidates for the roll must have donated cash or goods worth at least 100,000 yuan in a year.

Shenzhen will release an annual roll starting next year.(Li Jing)
